Senior Systems Engineer

Job Description: RESPEC, an integrated and internationally recognized data and technology solutions consulting and services company, actively seeks an experienced Senior Systems Engineer.  Our Senior Systems Engineer shall be responsible for systems engineering design, analysis, planning, implementation, troubleshooting, enhancements, and managing complex systems / networks with respect to large cyber-physical systems, preferably in a space systems environment. The Senior Systems Engineer provides system anomaly troubleshooting and resolution and performs root cause analysis. Incumbent is experienced in designing and providing solutions to meet project requirements, as well as capturing those designs in System Modeling Language (SysML) using the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Architecture Framework (DoDAF), as well as mockups of user interfaces, and entity-relationship diagrams.

The Senior Systems Engineer works closely with our federal government customers and supports a cross-functional teams comprised of members from the Project Management Office (PMO), engineering, development, test, and integration.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading highly technical engineering teams on challenging space systems focused projects
  • Developing and implementing technical baselines
  • Providing technical advice to our customers regarding architectures and solutions options in a multi-level secure environment.
  • Properly implementing processes and solutions in a classified environment
  • Interfacing directly with customers to ensure project requirements are met and ensures our performance exceeds customer expectations
  • Interacts with and task vendors
  • Develops and delivers effective customer presentations (design reviews, status reports, kickoff meetings, test plans) demonstrating an ability to communicate comfortably and effectively at a system level
  • Develops and implements risk strategies
  • Available to travel up to 10% of work time to attend conferences and network with customers
  • Effectively collaborative team player including providing direction to other technical staff

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferred Systems Engineering or Computer Engineering and/or engineering discipline equivalent
  • Minimum of 10-years system engineering experience with a minimum of 2 years per large software or cyber-physical system job related experience
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • DOD Top Secret clearance eligible
    • Only United States Citizens are eligible to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.  Therefore, US citizenship is required for this position.  Non-citizens do not qualify and will not be considered or interviewed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Active Secret clearance
  • Prior experience in Systems Engineering in a leadership role
  • Direct experience with DoD space acquisition processes and programs

Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise.
