Job Description:  RESPEC, a nationally recognized engineering consulting company with international projects seeks an experienced individual who will eventually assume the role of lead technician in the RESPEC Materials Testing Laboratory. The primary activity of the Materials Testing Laboratory is mechanical testing of rock specimens to provide data for geomechanical analyses for various mining projects. This position requires an individual with knowledge in mechanical behavior of geological materials and who is familiar with the laboratory test systems and procedures used for obtaining elastic, inelastic, thermal, and hydraulic material parameters for rock.

Qualifications:  A technical or bachelor of science degree is preferred as well as direct experience in materials testing (academic or industry). The laboratory testing environment will require a combination of “hands-on” work, including preparing specimens (i.e., using a mill, lathe, saw, and grinder), running testing software, analyzing data, calibrating and repairing equipment, understanding wiring and circuits, machining and fabricating parts, and troubleshooting.  Strong computer skills, especially the use of spreadsheets, and familiarity with SCADA systems are also beneficial.  Familiarity with testing evaporite-type deposits is a strong plus.

Compensation:  Salary depends on experience and education.
