Geological Engineer (Hydrogeology)

Job Description

The projects are often multidisciplinary; therefore, a basic understanding in areas including geochemistry, rock mechanics, and geophysics is beneficial.

Primary activities include groundwater modeling; field investigations of surface and subsurface fluid and gas mining evaluations and problems; economic brine evaluations; hydrogeological field testing and analysis; and data analysis of large multidisciplinary data sets.  The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineering staff.  Limited travel will be required in the fulfillment of these responsibilities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor of science degree or master of science degree in geological engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in groundwater flow modeling, statistical methods, and programming with a preference in MATLAB.  Preference will be given to those that have applied these skills in surface and underground mines
  • A minimum of 3 years of working knowledge in economic brines and potash and phosphate mining
  • Working knowledge in economic brines, potash and phosphate mining, or underground injection wells is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and effective oral and written communication skills.
