New Cruise Ship Dock, Juneau

2010–2016
Juneau, Alaska
City and Borough of Juneau

RESPEC participated in the development of the concept scope and option development, which included research with Alaska Electric Light & Power (AEL&P) to determine system capacity, capability, and requirement for shore power. RESPEC and AEL&P worked with cruise ship companies to gain an understanding of their potential shore-power demand.

RESPEC provided professional design documents, including utility service and distribution systems, to the docks, raceways, trays, and vaults. RESPEC also provided future installation of shore power service to the vessels including the stationary docks, ramps, and floating docks. RESPEC designed power for capstans and pumps; maintenance power; power and communications for wastewater instrumentation and security gate facilities; capacity to provide winter moorage shore power to smaller vessels; lighting on ramps, floating docks, and stationary docks; and surveillance cameras.

RESPEC worked with PND Engineers and the City and Borough of Juneau Docks and Harbors to provide electrical construction observation services, which included construction administration and field inspections.
