About Us

Know-How Is Our Common Language

At RESPEC, we believe problems aren’t really problems when you have the right expertise; they’re just challenges waiting for the right solution. For us, know-how means knowing when to lead, when to listen, and when to call in the right specialist for the job.

A group of people are in a conference room. Some are seated at a table with laptops, others stand near a screen displaying a presentation. A whiteboard, bottled water, and notepads are also visible in the room.

Think of us as a global expedition crew of engineers, scientists, programmers, and developers: hundreds of specialists, each with a unique skillset, working together toward a shared destination. We’re not superheroes, but we do have a knack for seeing solutions others miss and connecting the dots others overlook.

From the depths of a cavern to the slopes of a volcano, from government facilities to rural main streets, RESPEC thrives on turning complex challenges into practical outcomes—and making the journey just as sound as the destination.

We’re Bound by a PACT

RESPEC is committed to enriching the quality of lives through our commitment to each other, our clients, and our communities.

Our culture propels us forward, shaping our reputation as boundary pushers and solution seekers. What truly sets us apart is our PACT: our shared values of Passion, Accountability, Caring, and Teamwork.

These principles guide how we work with clients, communities, and each other.

vision-2030

Built on a Solid Foundation

A person in athletic gear stands on rocky mountain terrain with trekking poles, overlooking a dramatic view of clouds and distant peaks under a blue sky at sunrise or sunset.

Our story began in 1969 with a handful of engineers in South Dakota who believed that curiosity and collaboration could solve anything. Decades later, that same spirit drives us forward with an eye on the horizon with our Vision 2030.

We’re growing with purpose: developing every employee-owner through mentorship and opportunity, strengthening our presence across North America, and deepening our impact in sectors that define the future—from water resilience and clean energy to digital transformation and smart infrastructure.

We have big milestones on the horizon, from a presence in every major North American mining and energy hub, to doubling our ESOP’s value and advancing resilient and integrated solutions for water, energy, digital technology, and more.

Throughout it all, our vision is simple: build on strong foundations of know-how, culture, and ownership to become a recognized leader in engineering, applied science, and technology.

Making An Impact

What happens when a company full of problem-solvers turns its attention to the community? The RESPEC Foundation, for starters. Funded and led by our own employee-owners, we focus on the things that truly move the needle, from helping students launch STEM careers, to backing local causes, to trading spreadsheets for volunteer gloves. It’s our way of making sure the places we call home have the same resilience, ingenuity, and bright future we work toward every day.
