From the Client Side to Ours

Our People

A man with short dark hair and glasses, wearing a dark suit, white shirt, and striped tie, smiling in front of a plain light background.

Warren Riemer spent 15 years at Rio Tinto Exploration hiring consultants, managing drilling programs, and running projects through internal approval cycles. He understands exactly what clients expect from a consulting team because, for most of his career, he was the client.

Warren joins RESPEC as a Principal Geologist with experience in potash, uranium, copper, lithium, nickel, diamonds, and rare earth elements across Canada, the United States, Australia, and Serbia. He has a Bachelor of Science in Geology, with an honors thesis in structural geology, and initially worked in the oil and gas industry before transitioning to hard rock exploration.

It was a natural fit when RESPEC reached out. Warren had collaborated with the team for years from the client side and already knew what we could do. “I knew what we were always looking for from a consultant. And I knew RESPEC delivered it,” he says.

At RESPEC, he focuses on two main goals: expanding the firm’s presence in the Canadian uranium and metals markets and building field geology capabilities for exploration companies operating in northern Canada. He also seeks to mentor the geology team, encouraging collaboration so knowledge flows smoothly across the group instead of staying isolated in individual projects.

One career highlight: spending 2 months in Serbia’s Jadar Valley overseeing a seismic program and geology logging team above a recently discovered lithium borate mineral deposit that contained, at the time, an estimated 20% of the world’s lithium supply. The deposit remains untouched because of local government priorities.

Warren lives in Saskatchewan with his wife, who is also a geologist, and their three kids, a rebuilt 1990 Toyota Supra, and a 3D printer he uses to create parts he can’t find anywhere else.

Please join us in welcoming Warren to RESPEC.
