Specialty Rock Materials Testing: Thermal Physical Properties and Ultra-Low Permeability

Presentation

Join Dr. Evan Keffeler, testing specialist from RESPEC’s Materials Testing Laboratory, as he hosts an overview of specialty rock-mechanics testing, covering thermal physical properties and ultra-low permeability.

Thermal physical properties include thermal expansion, heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and thermal diffusivity. This webinar will discuss unconfined thermal expansion, confined thermal expansion, and transient plane source test methods. Approaches for measuring the permeability of rock specimens in the micro- and nanodarcy range will also be covered, with an emphasis on measurements using supercritical fluids.
