When the Oyate Health Center (OHC) opened its new facility, it marked a major step toward greater self-determination for tribal healthcare. The focus of the tribal-centric transition and modernization was the need to securely migrate patient clinical health records and modernize IT systems, without disrupting care, compromising data security, or impacting health information exchange. Drawing on deep experience in federal and tribal health IT, RESPEC supported this critical migration.

Executing a Full IT Migration on a Fixed Clinical Timeline

RESPEC’s team worked on site to safely migrate patient records, update software, and configure networks and storage systems. More than 150 client workstations were rebuilt and brought online to support providers in just 1 week, a compressed timeline driven by the need to maintain uninterrupted healthcare services. The rapid execution was made possible by careful planning, hands-on expertise, and a clear understanding of the regulatory and security requirements unique to tribal and federal healthcare environments.

Sustaining Security and Performance After Go-Live

Following go-live, RESPEC continues to manage and monitor OHC’s IT environment. Daily system inspections, proactive maintenance, performance tuning, updates, and rapid response to emerging issues help protect patient data from external threats while ensuring day-to-day clinical operations are reliable.
