Natural Gas Well Pad

RESPEC performed a study to evaluate the safe placement of the continuously manned operator/control building to ensure personnel were protected from potential release and ignition of natural gas being processed at the facility. A risk analysis was also performed to incorporate the probability of flammable release with the consequences.

Project Highlights

  • Standardized well pad designs for rich and lean NG
  • Design activities included the following:
    • equipment layout, spacings, and flow lines
    • mechanical piping systems
    • condensate management system
    • gas processing units (GPU)
    • 3-phase and 2-phase separation systems
    • slug catchers
    • heater & treater and other unit processing equipment
    • thermal oxidizer / flare systems
    • electrical and instrumentation systems
    • all above- and below-grade piping systems for complete design of the NG well pad
  • Provide standard spacing tables for the process equipment for the well pad layout
  • Develop dispersion model for simultaneous operations (Sim Op)
  • Provide construction quality assurance (CQA)
  • Design gathering pipeline systems
  • Design cathodic protection systems for all underground elements
  • Provide flammable gas monitoring services for the well pad sites
  • Provide equipment fitness for service (FFS) inspections

Benefits (Engineering, Economics, & Environment)

  • The standardized designs are repeatable
  • The Bill of Materials provided standardizes the equipment reducing material and construction costs
