Pete Lien & Sons Aggregate Processing Plant Master Plan

Pete Lien contracted with RESPEC to develop a master plan for replacing their aggregate processing plant in Rapid City, South Dakota. In addition, they contracted with RESPEC to develop detail drawings for a new manufactured sand plant.

The plant’s Master Plan encompassed the following principal items of equipment:

  • Two new cone-crusher stations
  • New Vertical Shaft Impactor (VSI) station
  • Two new 8-feet x 24-feet triple-deck horizontal screens
  • Two new 8-feet x 20-feet triple-deck horizontal screens
  • One new 8-feet x 20-feet wash screen
  •  Six radial stackers

The Master Plan encompassed an AggFlow model of the plant, a three-dimensional model of the plant and conveyors, and detailed site grading plans to accommodate the plant, stockpiles, and access ramps.

The manufactured sand plant encompassed the AggFlow design and structures to accommodate the following key equipment:

  • Twin 48-inch Aggredry fine material washer
  • Two single 48-inch Aggredry fine material washers
  • Classifying tank » Dewatering screen
  • VSI
  • New 8-feet x 20-feet triple-deck horizontal screens
  • Two radial stackers

The detailed design encompassed structural drawings of the screen and crusher stations, conveyor designs, and detailed concrete-foundation drawings. An additional task encompassed design of the water balance for the plant and sizing for all required pumps and piping. All of these drawings were completed in Revit to allow interactive design review with the client.
