RESPEC Cuts Ribbon on New Headquarter Expansion
Last month, RESPEC officially cut the ribbon on its new headquarters expansion, a project initiated in 2022. The $8 million investment has expanded RESPEC’s corporate headquarters to 70,000 square feet. The building design was led by RESPEC’s own engineers, with crucial support from key partners:
Building Contractor: Kurtz Construction
Building Architect: Architecture Incorporated
Project Financing: Dacotah Bank
In addition to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the event celebrated RESPEC’s 55th anniversary. Over the past 55 years, RESPEC has evolved from a small team into an industry leader. Initially tackling complex challenges like nuclear waste management, the company has diversified and thrived, becoming a fully employee-owned enterprise. Through strategic acquisitions and a commitment to employee innovation, RESPEC has established itself as a formidable force in the industry, poised for future growth.
This growth isn’t just internal but reflects RESPEC’s deeper investment into the Rapid City community. This latest development is part of RESPEC’s plan to double its local workforce to 200 employees, providing local engineers and technical professionals with opportunities to make a significant impact on national and global—all while staying in their hometown.
“The expansion of the Rapid City office represents our continued commitment to the community, providing professional opportunities for our employees, and growing as a North American company,” said CEO Todd Kenner.
RESPEC’s strong partnership with the South Dakota School of Mines (SD Mines) is a key component of this growth, offering internships and programs that provide students with hands-on experience. By investing in local talent, RESPEC ensures a steady pipeline of skilled professionals who can contribute to both the company and community.
With this expansion, the company sees a bright future ahead. The entrepreneurial spirit, work ethic, and values of the local business community align closely with RESPEC. These characteristics, combined with the natural environment and the young talent nurtured at SD Mines, create a foundation for enduring success. As RESPEC continues to grow, it remains dedicated to its roots in Rapid City, building a thriving community and a prosperous future.
