Student Engineering Intern - Mining

Grand Junction, CO - M-Mining

Job Description: RESPEC has an opening for a temporary part-time engineering intern in the Mining & Energy Division in the Grand Junction, Colorado, office. The intern will be expected to work 40 hours a week during the summer with an option to work an average of 10 to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Primary activities include engineering support including field work and data analysis. Supplemental activities may involve geologic mapping, core logging, surveying, mapping, mine planning and data management. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineering staff.

Qualifications:

  • Must be working toward a bachelor of science or advanced degree in geological, mechanical, mining, civil engineering, or related field, and at the junior or senior level
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate effectively in writing and orally, and be self-motivated.

Compensation: Typical hourly wage for this position is $18-22/hour and depends on education and experience, plus statutory insurance requirements.
