RESPEC, a recognized North American engineering consulting firm seeks an experienced Structural Engineer to join our engineering team in Fairbanks, Alaska. The structural engineers at RESPEC collaborate across multiple offices. We design a wide range of innovative projects utilizing state-of-the-art technologies. Projects include schools, healthcare facilities, seismic evaluations, industrial facilities and structures, structural failure condition assessments, and projects for the Department of Defense. This is an onsite, office-based position in Fairbanks, AK.
The Structural Engineer will be a part of our growing Structural team. The engineer’s structural analysis and design experience will support new construction and rehabilitations/renovations in collaboration with architects and civil, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineers. Interpreting building codes and standards, preparing structural plans and details, and conducting related construction observations for RESPEC’s structural projects—while applying technical knowledge to meet all stakeholder expectations—are key aspects of this position. Our ideal candidate enjoys working with a team and diving into new challenges, and will have the following qualifications:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering with structural coursework emphasis from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineering registration.
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in structural engineering
- Solid knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Mathcad, Blue Beam.
- RISA, STAAD, SAP, Enercalc, or similar Structural Analysis Software experience.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and able to take on new tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
- Detail oriented and well organized with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use modern collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Desire to learn and advance in technical skills and understanding.

Preferred qualifications:
- Master of Science in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
- AutoCAD and Revit experience.
- Project Management experience and/or Project Management Professional Certification.
- Experience in on-site review and inspection of structural construction.
- Interest in continued professional development.
- Current SE registration a plus or ability to take and pass the SE exam within 2.5 years of hire.
- MSHA Certifications

Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe-benefits package. RESPEC is a 100 percent employee-owned company and employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after a qualifying period.
