Linux Systems Administrator
Job Description
RESPEC’s Data and Technology Services business unit (DTS BU) seeks a mid-level Systems Administrator to work with our Department of Energy (DOE) client. Hiring locations include: Albuquerque (Area), NM, Roswell, NM, Las Cruces, NM, Carlsbad, NM, Alamogordo, NM, Clovis, NM & El Paso, TX.
- Maintains and administers an archive/backup/and disaster recovery solution/system on Windows, Linux, and Solaris using Bacula.
- Administers Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Solaris Servers including support of web servers, file servers, execution servers, database servers, document management server and software.
- Proficiency in accomplishing tasks via command line in Linux.
- Assists in managing Dell Linux clusters.
- Assists in maintaining and administering network connectivity between geographically separated client offices.
- Programs and manages network switches, routers and firewalls.
- Maintains and provides monthly as well as special requested documentation pertinent to the set up and maintenance of computer systems and their software.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience. Or associate degree in computer science, Information Technology or related discipline and 8 years of relevant experience. Or 10 years of relevant experience.
- A minimum of 6 months of experience with administering and maintaining high-performance complex computer networks and legacy computer systems and software with NQA-1 QA requirements such as those associated with the DOE and WIPP projects.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE clearance
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- For candidates located outside of Carlsbad, NM, must be willing to travel to Carlsbad, NM once a month to provide on-site support; on-site support subject to contract changes.

Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe-benefits package. RESPEC is a 100 percent employee-owned company and employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after a qualifying period.
