Laguna and Batangas, Philippines
Unocal Corporation

The Makiling–Banahaw Geothermal Field is a 458-megawatt (MW) power plant complex in Laguna and Batangas, Philippines. Under a service contract with the state-owned National Power Corporation (NPC), Unocal Corporation developed a geothermal station at the field commissioned in 1979.

As part of the Unocal Corporation team, a member of the RESPEC team was the Asset Manager. The Asset Manager increased the generational output by supervising the design, construction, and startup of a 6-MW binary power plant with an acid-injection system to suppress silica.
