Division of Engineering, Department of Planning, Preservation and Development of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG)

RESPEC was retained by the Division of Engineering, Department of Planning, Preservation and Development of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) to assess and report on two Vulcan Materials Company (Vulcan) underground quarries’ compliance with local safety ordinances. Vulcan is engaged in the quarrying, processing, and sale of limestone aggregate at two separate mine operations located in Fayette County, Kentucky. Vulcan’s Central Rock and Richmond Road Quarries produce limestone aggregate from multiple-level underground operations using the room and pillar mining method. RESPEC reviewed and analyzed Vulcan-submitted mine maps, conducted on-site inspections at both quarries, assessed Vulcan’s compliance relative to local ordinances, and prepared an inspection report for LFUCG.
