Construction blasting activities are required to complete the new lock chamber at the Kentucky Lock and Dam. The project area is located on the Tennessee River at river mile 22.2 near Grand Rivers, Kentucky. The new 1,200-foot × 110-foot lock will be located landward of the existing lock. The Corps of Engineers requires a minimum of 20 years of experience in blasting quality control. RESPEC provides quality control and is responsible for verifying actual drill depths versus surveyed grade for every hole drilled. We provide oversight on all blast loading and wiring procedures to ensure that each blast follows the submitted and approved blast plan.
