Entry-Level Environmental Engineer

Lexington, KY - M-Mining

RESPEC, an internationally recognized engineering consulting company, seeks an entry-level environmental engineer located in our Lexington, Kentucky location.

The responsibilities for this position include assisting on projects related to environmental permitting, geotechnical analysis, and mining-related water management. Will assist in planning and designing reclamation projects, impoundment design and inspections, site design, site grading, stormwater design, permitting, preparing technical reports, and project management. The successful candidate will work with senior engineering staff to manage mining-related reclamation projects. Domestic travel may be required for visits to client mine sites as well as for client and corporate meetings.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree environmental engineering or related field 
  • 0 to 5 years of experience in environmental permitting, geotechnical analysis, and mining-related water management
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental permitting and water management
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the required qualifications, the following education and skill set are preferred:

  • Experience working in the Central Appalachian States
  • Familiarity with mining operations and their associated environmental challenges

Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe-benefits package that consists of medical, vision, and dental insurance; holidays; paid leave; 401(k) Plan and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP); continuing education; and professional societies. RESPEC is a 100% employee-owned company and employees are eligible for participation in the ESOP after a qualifying period.
